POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Director of Deceased Donor Services (SrDDS) oversees the creation and implementation of strategies to develop and execute the deceased donor recovery service line, drive business growth and expansion and maintains ethical standards. This includes identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, establishing partnerships and alliances, managing existing and new business relationships and implementation of the deceased donor recovery operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop and lead strategic initiatives to expand deceased donor services and
  • Build strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers that lead to executed contracts with partner agencies including and not limited to hospitals, coroner, medical examiner, funeral home and recovery organizations for Surgenex, DBA Phoenix Donor
  • Develop strategic plans for deceased tissue donor growth, including setting goals, establishing protocols, and ensuring alignment with Surgenex’s mission and
  • Oversee all aspects of deceased donor recovery operations, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, mitigating risks, and maximize value for Surgenex. Compliance with all regulatory standards, includes and is not limited to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB), and state- specific requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative donor services
  • Work closely with business partners and respective staff, including hospitals, coroners, medical examiners, funeral directors, administrators, recovery agencies, and recovery personnel to facilitate the donation process. This involves educating personnel on donation and recovery protocols, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and promoting a culture of donation within the agencies.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining department strategic plan, employee and department KPI’s and metrics.
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of donated tissue is This includes compliance with quality management systems to monitor and maintain the integrity of tissue throughout the donation process.
    • Provides routine QMS updates to the Chief Quality & Regulatory Officer and Surgenex leadership.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team to execute operational
    • Provide leadership, enforce staff accountability, and establish recovery thresholds/goals.
    • Hire, coach, and mentor staff to align with the goals for donor recovery/acquisition.
    • Ensure leadership and staff understand their job expectations and are informed in a timely manner when these expectations are not Applies use of disciplinary action when necessary. Promotes employee mentoring and coaching using documentation and management tools including Performance Improvement Plans (PIP).
    • Ensure compliant execution of the recovery and QMS
  • Provide high-level support to Executive Leadership with the ongoing oversight of a compliant PDS living tissue acquisition/recovery program.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape and advancements in tissue research and regenerative medicine and explore business opportunities for innovation and improvement within Surgenex’s tissue banking program.
  • Engage in community outreach initiatives and organizational events to raise awareness about both living and deceased tissue donation and to build and foster new partnerships to increase participation and donors.
  • Maintains business partner, donors/patients, and company confidentiality at all
  • Assist with developing and maintaining department strategic plan, employee and department KPI’s and metrics.
  • Attend conferences and industry events to network with potential customers and promote working engagement with Surgenex.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare field; master’s degree preferred

Experience: Five to eight years of progressive leadership experience in donor services, healthcare operations; related experience with contract negotiation, business development, and/or sales in tissue banking, or healthcare related field desired. Working knowledge of relevant regulatory agencies.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of Goggle Suite, MS office programs and use of Mac computers a plus.

Certificates & Licenses: AATB CTBS desired
