LifeSource is hiring a Chief Transformation Officer to be responsible for oversight of the strategic planning process in collaboration with the CEO, Quality and performance improvement, and innovation/transformation identification and/or initiation up to and including implementation where appropriate. The Chief Transformation officer’s key role is to lead and align enterprise-wide innovation, quality improvement, and strategic growth initiatives. This executive role will play a critical part in shaping the organization’s future by driving innovation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring strategic alignment across key operational and regulatory functions. This is an exciting new leadership role in our organization.

As Chief  Transformation Officer, you’ll advance our life-saving work by performing the following job duties:

Transformation, Innovation & New Business Strategies: 

  • Provide executive guidance to the organization’s functions including strategic planning and performance improvement. Translate the organization’s long-term vision into actionable plan/programs.
  • Lead the development and execution of innovative strategies that align with organizational goals and the mission of the organization.
  • Align transformation initiatives with the organization’s strategic goals (e.g., improving scorecard/metrics, reducing costs, improving donor potential, etc.).  Act as a bridge between executive leadership, clinical teams, and other departments to drive cohesive transformation.
  • Lead the strategic planning process and oversee its implementation, ensuring progress is monitored and goals are achieved through effective leadership, the quality management system and QAPI (quality assurance and performance improvement program).
  • Identify emerging trends, technologies, and business models to create competitive advantages.
  • Drive cross-functional ideation, and implementation of new services, and revenue streams.
  • Work with clinical leaders, medical directors, government affairs, IT, HR, finance, and other key partners to align and implement transformation efforts.  Break down silos and create cross-functional teams to solve complex challenges.
  • Cultivate external partnerships and strategic alliances with startups, academia, vendors, and industry thought leaders to support innovation and transformation goals.
  • Assess ROI and strategic fit for major alliances and partnerships.
  • Stay informed on healthcare policy changes (e.g., CMS, Medicare/Medicaid rules, FDA, etc.) that could affect strategy.
  • Identify internal or external funding opportunities (partnerships, revenue streams, etc.).  Manage innovation and transformation budgets, cost-benefit analysis, and resource allocation.

 

Quality and Process Improvement:

  • Champion continuous improvement and operational excellence across departments.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, learning, and lean process design.
  • Execute innovative, process improvement methodologies and leadership to drive initiatives aimed at achieving organizational outcomes.
  • Establish expectations for results oriented interdisciplinary teamwork of leaders to ensure meeting organizational objectives, overall departmental goals, and annual departmental action plans.
  • Ensure that performance improvement areas provide effective support to internal and external customers to facilitate efficient work processes and positive relations.
  • Maintain oversight of the quality management system and set expectations ensuring practices, policies and procedures are compliant with all federal and state laws and regulatory bodies, accrediting agencies, and governing policies and standards.
  • Understand the Conditions for Coverage and ensure that all conditions are met.
  • Lead effective integration and execution of performance excellence measurement and analysis to support cycles of evaluation, learning, and growth in achievement of organizational outcomes.

 

Executive Leadership & Strategic Alignment:

  • Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team across innovation and quality domains.
  • Build a unified vision across diverse functions to achieve synergy and integrated results.
  • Provide oversight of the development and fulfillment of the long-term vision and strategic priorities.
  • Engage in activities and initiatives related to organizational culture, workforce development, and engagement, including integration of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging practices.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to 10 years of business, or strategic responsibilities.
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years proven leadership, mentoring and coaching experience.  
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Prefer previous experience across communities with diverse expectations of the healthcare environment.
  • Proven success in driving innovation and managing cross-functional enterprise initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory environments and quality improvement frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, and the ability to lead through influence.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This role is hybrid on-site in Minneapolis.
  • Must be able to travel within the service area (MN, ND, SD) by ground or air, as needed, and occasionally to national events and meetings.
  • Standard hours – Monday-Friday between the hours of 0800-1700, with ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week with schedule adjusted to accommodate organizational needs.  Leaders will participate in on-call and weekends, as needed.
  • Requires attendance to Departmental, Leadership, All Team Meetings, Board and Executive functions

 

Projected offer range: $225k to $300k, based on relevant experience.
