Ryan was 18 years old in 2013 when he took his own life. As you can imagine, we were all devastated and shocked. He was such a funny, happy, caring young man and planned to join the Marines. Organ donation has always been important to me, so it was an easy decision to make when the time came. It really helped me knowing something positive would come out of something so horrible. Ryan was very athletic and very healthy, so we were able to donate everything. I have had the honor of meeting his heart recipient and we keep in touch. I miss Ryan so much every single day, but am very happy that he still lives on in others.
