Roger donated a kidney(living donor)to me Aug 5,2003 He did very well after the surgery. He went back to work and was strong.
I was able to have a healthy life off dialysis
For 4 years until I got a flu shot (2007) and it caused me to lose my gift of life. Roger passed away in an auto accident in 2008. He will always be a Hero to me.
I had to return to dialysis for another 5 years when I got the phone call for a donor match. I received my second kidney transplant on Nov7, 2007. I believe it was from a young girl that was taken off life support. I have this kidney now for almost 12 years. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in May 2000. Diffuse large B cell lymphoma. PTLD. Caused by one of the anti rejection medicines (Azithioprine). The chemotherapy took a big toll on my gift of life. I am now in need of another kidney transplant. I’m on the waiting list now.
