She had 2 brain aneurysms, a smaller one on top of a much larger one. The smaller one burst while she was stopped at a stop sign outside the ER of one of only 2 hospitals in the area that do transplants. The larger one burst while in the ER. We were told that if she had been even just outside the parking lot, she would have died before they could reach her. She fought for 12 days in ICU but then succumbed to a major stroke. She donated her heart, liver, kidneys, bone, and tissue. Her heart recipient lives 1 1/2 hours away and started the Rachael’s Heart project in her quilt shop (pillow forms with a heart on them) to promote organ donation and is now a dear friend. Having her in our lives has really helped me reconcile losing my daughter.
