My mother passed away 2 weeks after her 60th birthday. She grew up in the Bronx and then moved to Long Island, where she married my father and had me her only child. She was a widow 6 years ago, who survived a brain aneurysm 9 years ago and bounced back as if nothing was wrong. I have been married for 4 years and my mother was able to see her 2 beautiful grandchildren (boy 2 1/2 years old and girl 2 months old). When we were told she was an organ donor we had no idea what that meant and how it could benefit someone. Once we were explained in great detail what was involved it fit my mother perfectly, she was an amazing woman who would do anything for anyone. She would be so happy to know that she helped someone.
My mother also has 1 sister, who is still living with a husband and 2 girls (17 and 19 years old). My mother and her sister are 10 years apart and were best friends! They were inseparable; the two of them are great role models to their kids.
Her father is still living (he is 82 years old) and her mother passed away 5 years ago.
I am so glad to know my mother helped someone. This helps ease the pain of losing her suddenly.
