Maggie had a smile that could light up a room and a contagious laugh that you couldn’t help but join in. She was caring, giving, loving and loyal. If anyone needed anything she was there to help any way she could. She had a personality larger than her. She was loud, funny, sarcastic and cursed like a sailor. She loved being the center of attention. Right or wrong she always said what was on her mind. She had no filter. Maggie always did things her way, on her terms, there was no compromise.

Maggie had her struggles and life was not all rainbows and butterflies for her. I always told Maggie that I knew the universe had something big planned for her and she needed to be patient and wait for its sign. I always felt that her purpose was to help people through her story and struggles.

Even at the end Maggie had to have things her way. I was speaking with an angel of a nurse and I mentioned that I was ready to stop life saving measures and let Maggie be at peace. Little did I know Maggie had one last surprise for me. Later that day, the angel nurse asked me if I knew that Maggie was an organ donor. And just like that, there was the sign we talked so much about. Through her selfless decision, she gave complete strangers a chance at life. Her death has meaning and she is not just another statistic. I am incredibly proud of her for her decision.

My world is much dimmer and quieter without you. You’ve left a mark on all the lives you’ve touched and will never be forgotten. Until we meet again my sweet girl, fly high with the angels. I love you to the moon and back and back again. Forever and always, mommy
