Lance Primmer, the beloved son of Dale and Megan, tragically died in a drowning accident at the age of nineteen. He graduated with honors from Rochester Mayo High School in 2021 and then attended college at UW Stout in Menomonie, WI. He would have been entering is junior year studying Engineering Technology and Design. Lance was a beloved member of the Mayo High School and UW Stout cross country and track teams. He was known by his teammates as being friendly, living authentically, and fun loving.
At Mayo High School Lance helped create a culture of inclusivity inside and outside of the classroom. A note from a former classmate stated, "he was always very kind to everyone and never let anyone feel like they didn't belong." He was often seen cheering on runners, even the last few to cross the finish line, and included everyone to play frisbee golf after practice. When Lance went off to college, he frequently came back to Mayo track practices to run with his former teammates and offer advice from his experiences.
Lance was a giver, and it was no surprise that when he got his driver's license at age of sixteen that he would check the organ donor box. Even in death Lance continues to give back and improve the quality of life for others through his tissue, bone, vascular and heart valve donations. To Live Like Lance means to be determined, driven, and to have a genuine love for life that Lance displayed in everything he did.
