My Dad, Kirby, had a rare gift for making people feel truly valued, always showing up when it mattered and giving his time and heart without expecting anything in return. When he passed away our family was heartbroken. But in the midst of our grief, we learned something that brought us comfort: his generosity didn’t end with his life. Through the donation of his corneas and tissues, Dad gave others the chance to see the world again, to heal from injury, and to live without pain. Somewhere out there, a person may now be able to watch a sunset for the first time in years, see the face of their child clearly, or walk without discomfort- all because of him.
His life was a quiet lesson in kindness and humility, always doing what was right and giving until the very end.
Thats the man my Dad was-his love and generosity continue to touch lives we may never know, and his final act of hope, healing and love lives on in our hearts and in those he helped.
