We were unable to say goodbye to Kevin after a sudden accident in 2020. He had just updated his donor status a few months prior, but the decision to donate his organs was one we had never thought we would need to discuss. While we don’t have specific information on the recipients, the funeral home told us his gifts helped countless people.
When we think about how giving Kevin was in life, we hope that this unbelievable loss has spread some of his love and light into the world. His truly generous nature was his defining characteristic. He unfailingly took care of his parents in their old age and put his daughters and his wife before himself at every opportunity. He was a loyal and loving friend.
It is not hyperbole to say he was the best father I could have asked for. A world without his unconditional love and support is unimaginable, but he left a mark on all who knew him. If I stop for a moment and close my eyes, I can hear his joyful laughter ringing out and can feel his arms around me in a reassuring hug. I pray that his gifts give that comfort to everyone he was able to touch even after death.
