My husband Ken was a kidney transplant recipient in 12/2008. When he passed away in 10/2014, I knew he would want to help as many people as possible. I was unaware he could be a tissue donor but that’s what I did. In 2016, I took his ashes to Gulf Shores with my 2 best friends. He always wanted to go to the beach and to fly in a plane. On this trip, I was able to put his ashes in 12 mason jars with a letter containing the information about finally being able to bring him to the beach. I also took up a jar of ashes in a helicopter ride. The day before we left, we went out on the ferry. I tossed the jars of ashes into the Gulf for Ken to be able to travel as he was unable to while he was alive. It was the best I could do for a tribute to the man I adored.
