Kamaria Spaulding, who was killed in a car accident at the age of 18, affectionately called Luna by her family. Luna advocated for literacy, representation, inclusivity and community. She served as a volunteer with the American Red Cross and earned the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2020 but passed away before she was able to receive it.
Although we lost Kamaria, she was able to give back as an organ donor! To know Kamaria was to love her. She was always outgoing, spontaneous, loving, selfless, and compassionate. It was no surprise that she had agreed to be an organ donor, and we were more than honored to honor her legacy, and life’s dreams of helping others by doing so. Although we lost Luna, we continue to honor her giving heart by hosting an annual Kamaria Spaulding blood drive to continue giving back to others in the community.
