Joey was only 23 when he died on October 31, 2016 as a result of injuries that he sustained in a car-pedestrian accident 3 days earlier. The only written final wish of Joey’s was the designation on his driver’s license to be an organ donor.
Joey talked to his sister at length about why he wanted to be an organ donor. He was fascinated with the science behind organ donation – about the life saving, life changing benefit that could be provided to another person, and the related research that could help someone in the future.
