My husband passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly. Even I did not know that he had registered with the Secretary of State to be a donor. He must have done so on line after his driver’s license had been renewed. He was ineligible for organ donation, but his corneas, various sections of bone, skin and veins were harvested for transplant; I later learned that several people had benefited from his gifts. He was a terrific person—smart, funny, hard-working, loyal, principled; I am so grateful to have been his wife. He was the best father and husband; I still miss him every day and still love him with all my heart.
