Hudson James Lee was only 13 when he died on a hike. He was witty and wise beyond his years. He related to adults more than children his age. He was never without a book. His quest for knowledge meant he was a wealth of information and trivia. He kept us laughing with his wry humor and quippy observations on life. He liked to play chess, Legos, and video games. His sister Arden was his favorite person in the world. He loved the Wings of Fire series, Greek mythology, wearing crocs, Pokémon, and Avatar the Last Airbender. (My cabbages!) He was a chess club member, library assistant, and student tutor at his middle school. He was sensitive, and could tell when others were hurting. He gave the best hugs and always knew when someone needed one. He was beloved and we miss him so much.
Hudson talked to us about his donation wishes after we watched a documentary on Egyptian burial practices. He was able to improve numerous lives as an eye and tissue donor in our local community, across the United States, and as far away as New Zealand. We know he would be happy and proud to have helped so many people.
