When Hayden was getting his drivers license they asked him if he wanted to be an organ donor, he looked at me and I told him it was his decision and that's when he said "if something happened to me I won't need anything anymore, at least I could help someone else". Helping people was his thing, if a friend needed help he was one of the first to show up, didn't matter if it was helping a girl who's car wouldn't start, a friend that needed help moving or making sure his family was okay and didn't need anything. The last five months have been some of the hardest in mine and our family's life but knowing Hayden has helped someone has given some comfort.
One of Hayden's passions was duck hunting, and the last week of his life he got to do just that every day, he hunted with his uncle, his little brother and his friends. He loved duck hunting, he talked about it even when it wasn't duck season. So when we got the letter that he had helped restore 2 peoples vision, it made me laugh a little bit thinking that these people are going to catch themselves looking at the sky's looking for ducks not knowing why.
Our son was a good kind soul and I hope that I turn out to be half the person he was in his short 19 years here on earth. We were so blessed that we got to have him before the good lord called him home.
