Many times since our Guy’s passing, we have said it’s not how he went,it’s how he lived the 64 years God blessed him with!
Guy was born a premie and almost did not survive his birth. Because he did survive, we think somehow he knew early on in life that he must cherish the time God gave him and the special gifts he was given.
If you even just knew Guy through stories, you knew he was the very essence of compassion and kindness. When we would talk about things he did for us or others, it would seem normal to us, but others were always engaged and blown away by what he did for other people. Many times throughout our lives, and especially since his passing, we heard many people say…… “the best part of my day was seeing Guy”,,, “Your dad was the first one to truly welcome me into the family”. “Guy always made me feel like everything is okay” “Every time I hugged Guy it was like hugging my own dad.” “Guy is my best friend”.
He was there for his friends and family in times of need,in times of celebration,to make sure they were updated with family matters, remember your birthday or religious holiday with a card, check-in to make sure you were not alone for a special holiday, leave something special outside your door or on your desk,or invite you over just because. He would go out of his way, even when most inconvenient to make someone else feel good and cared for. This is just a glimpse into the amazing things he did for those closest to him, those who were acquaintances and even strangers. Not surprisingly he left this Earth a hero donating his organs to others who needed their lives saved.
Thank you Guy and Dad for brightening our lives and leaving us with the best example of how life should be lived during your time here on earth. Watch over us our hero. Until we meet again.
