Fred came into my life 16 years ago, and was like a bright sunlight. He was waiting for a heart transplant- living with an L-VAD, but he always had a smile on his face. He was the most positive guy I’ve ever met.  During surgery to replace the malfunctioning L-VAD (not sure how to spell that). An air embolism went to his brain, causing brain death. He was a dedicated advocate for organ donation, so there was no question about the decision his family made. Through his gifts, someone was able to see again. I know that would have made him happy. He was a wonderful man who loved his family and is so very missed.
