Erin Johnston was one of a kind! He was loving, caring, and very supportive. He learned at a very young age to take nothing for granted and to enjoy the little things. His unique outlook on life is due largely to a very rare genetic eye disease he was born with. As he grew his vision slowly deteriorated and by the time he was 40 he had to give up driving.
Despite Erin's struggles, he was able to raise 3 daughters; myself (Brooke), Alaine, and Camryn. My sisters and I all had a unique bond with our father. Whether it be jamming to music, watching my sisters' school productions/activities, or just going for a drive, he made time for each of us. Now that hes passed, we've learned to cherish those moments.
Friday November 3rd was a day that changed our family's life forever. Erin suffered a massive heart attack and was unable to pull through. Laying our father to rest at the young age of 46 was devastating. However, we were able to find comfort in knowing that his death was not in vein. Erin was an Organ Donor and was able to help improve several lives through his donation of skin, tissue, and most importantly, his eyes! Hearing that his eyes were able to help another individual see was not only deeply touching, but it also inspired us to get more involved with Lifeline of Ohio. Our new appreciation for life and organ donation has not only brought us comfort, but hope as well. On behalf of my family I would like to thank everyone at Lifeline for all of their support, and most importantly for honoring the man we called Father. Rest in Peace Erin Johnston. We love and miss you everyday!
