Erik was on the heart transplant list. In June 2017, he had an LVAD placed. On March 10, 2018, after suffering a massive stroke (side effect from LVAD), I made the decision to donate his organs and tissues. His liver saved the life of a 55 year old man, his corneas gave eyesight to 2 people, and his skin was used for 10 different surgeries (several for breast cancer reconstruction surgeries). My husband was a hero both when he was alive and after he died.
