Our son Branden was such a blessing to us. We enjoyed our time with him. He loved music, his dog-Charlie, snow mobility, dirt biking, ATV riding, being with family and hockey. Branden took organ donation seriously and discussed it with both of us. 1 year after that decision and less than a week after his 17th birthday, we suddenly found ourselves in the critical care unit at the hospital talking with the organ and tissue donation team. We made the decision to honor our son’s decision. Branden donated his heart, lungs, both kidneys, liver, pancreas, bone, skin, connective tissue. 5 desperately waiting patients received his gifts of life. The tissue donations were used to make 63 graphs for others. We are in touch with 4 of the 5 organ recipients so far. This has been an amazing blessing. It has given us something to focus on this past year and more people to love. I hope this inspires someone to give by becoming a donor and parents to honor their child in this way. It is one of the most precious acts a human can perform.
