My daughter fought a difficult battle with substance abuse for many years, but ultimately lost the battle. When we were asked by Gift of Life to consider donating any viable organs, we knew it was what she would have wanted. She had a big heart and now her heart can hopefully live on for many years. It is a bittersweet comfort to our family now.
