Following a medical emergency, my Uncle Michael became an organ donor this past September. While the intent of this is to talk about his incredible donation, and the selfless decision that my Aunt made, I want to focus on his life. He was a father to two young children, a loving husband, and the joy of every family gathering. He was perpetually making everyone around him laugh and smile, making sure he talked to everybody. He was creative and artistic, always tinkering with his motorcycle, painting. He was the most beautiful light in this world, and things are a bit dimmer since he left us. It is an immense, all encompassing loss but the fact that he lives on in his liver recipeint, two kidney recipients, and the tissue recipients provided the closest thing to lemonade out of the lemon-iest situation there was. So in his honor, please help him live on in your words and actions as well as his organs. Create more. Laugh more. Love each other. Show people you care.
