Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA), founded in 1975, is one of 57 federally-designated Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) in the United States. JOB SUMMARY:
Leads and directs all functions surrounding activities and responsibilities of staff development. Responsible to collaborate with leadership and staff to create, develop and implement training, initiate new practices, policies and processes. Assures comprehensive and effective orientation, ongoing knowledge, skills development and competency for all staff. Responsible for developing and implementing written, instructor-led and experiential-based training programs. Oversees management of training files and training tracking systems. Collaborates with leadership to develop and maintain easily accessible systems that support standardization and centralization of training and professional development which supports and fosters staff knowledge, skill and competency materials. Assures all practices related to training and training documentation meets or exceeds standards for all regulatory agencies. Assists in planning operations including budget and strategic planning. Responsible to assure that staff development needs are met through coaching and mentoring staff so that their performance routinely meets or exceeds TOSA performance standards.
This position may be required, on occasion, to travel by company or personal automobile or commercial aircraft to accomplish the job responsibilities. The incumbent will have access to confidential material and needs to use discretion with this information and strictly adheres to the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance confidentiality policy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Collaborates with VP/CPO and leadership to develop and maintain dynamic training and professional development programs focused on assuring learner competency in core processes.
- Supervises TOSA’s a team of educators
- Collaborates with director/staff to incorporate training and to adjust training process to minimize margin for error as identified from performance improvement projects.
- Supports professional development and competency by designing and collaborating initiatives/programs.
- Oversees and collaborates maintenance of the training module in QPulse and TOSA’s LMS to provide standardized and centralized training and professional development materials.
- Collaborates with preceptors to design written, eLearning and other online/audio-visual curriculum.
- Designs tools and processes used to assess skill, knowledge and learning transfer related to core competencies.
- Develops and implements a structured orientation process in collaboration with departmental leaders.
- Assists in identification and training of clinical preceptors.
- Mentors’ new preceptors, facilitators, and trainers.
- Oversees and coordinates on-going continuing education training for all staff to assure consistent training and assessment practices.
- Coordinates and oversees maintenance of training files, including utilization of TOSA’s electronic database.
- Maintains training and education calendars that outline training plans for all staff.
- Represents TOSA, including giving presentations and authoring case study/abstract submissions at meetings as needed.
- Pursues membership in NATCO and AOPO.
- Develops and manages annual departmental budget and strategic plans.
- Participates in organizational strategic planning process.
- Develops departmental standards, policies, and systems to ensure compliance with governing and accrediting bodies.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing , Healthcare Administration , Education / Training or related experiences.
- Five years in leadership (supervisor level or above)
- Three years in related clinical education precepting, training and / or directly overseeing educational programs
- OPO experience and CPTC certification preferred.
- Experience with QPulse and LMS preferred
- Functional skills related to clinical education, teaching, data, technical, analytical, problem solving, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to function effectively with minimum supervision.
- Physical requirements also include the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
