My beautiful daughter, Julia had recently graduated from college. She was enjoying her newfound independence with a new job and Summer and Fall with friends and family. Being the warm, loving, kind, and dedicated person that she was, she was always looking out for everyone. She had a heart bigger than any ocean and a spirit that knew no bounds. To know Julia was truly to love her. On a cold day, just before Christmas, she lost control of her car on the highway. In the hospital, she fought like the karate black belt that she was, but we had to say goodbye to her two days later. It had always been important to Julia to register as an organ donor, and her last gift of her kidneys saved the lives of two people who had been on the waiting list for years. No amount of time can ever take away the pain of losing my only child, but I’m so proud of who she was and will always be in my heart, and thanks to her selflessness and giving nature, she will always live on.
