Shortly before his graduation, James passed away. In the midst of their loss, James’ parents Rosie and James 3rd honored their son’s wish to be a donor. James was able to donate both of his kidneys, one to his cousin and the other to an anonymous recipient. He also donated his heart, lungs, eyes and tissue for research. Through his selfless gift, James gave his family time with his cousin and helped many other families through his decision to be a donor.

“Organ donation is the most precious gift you can leave behind,” Rosie says, “not only for the lives you save but for your family who is able to connect with those recipients and remember you through them.”

James’ generosity in being a donor left a legacy for his parents, grandparents, siblings, and other loved ones. They share his story with everyone they can, including how his gift has saved so many.

“James showed us his deep love for helping others by sharing the gift of life with everyone he could,” Rosie says. “Although James may not be physically present, his family knows he continues to live on in the lives of so many.”
