I don’t often think of myself as a donor recipient because it was never explained to me that way. When I was 16 years old I received a tissue donation in the form of ankle ligaments. I was never offered the option to reach out to the donor’s family and thank them for giving me the ability to walk again. It wasn’t until last year when I took a 12 month CEU series with Gift of Hope and learned about tissue donation that I finally made the connection. After 14 years I would like to formally honor donor hero, who identify with unfortunately always remain a mystery.
