June 12, 2018 I spoke to my husband the last time, and he kissed our 15th month old good bye for the last time, he experienced an ascending aortic dissection which led them to air care him to main UC to perform emergency surgery, unfortunately it took them too long to diagnose the problem and he had a stroke as well leaving him brain dead and had to make the descision to remove life support and he took his last breath on June 14, 2024. When they came to talk to me about organ donation I knew his organs were viable but wanted to allow for tissue and eye donation. A month after his death we recieved noticed someone had recieved his corneas restoring their sight. My son and I had world turned up side down that day but know he was able to help others is helpful and helps with reminding my son his dad was a hero!
