Amelia is now a member of my family having performed one of the most caring and loving gestures a person can do.
My wife, Cynthia Sellers, designed a flyer announcing I was in need of a kidney transplant, after being on dialysis for 2 years at the time, with an 8 year estimate before reaching the top of the recipient list. This flyer was shared with a co-worker of Cynthia's, who in turn posted it at her yoga studio. Amelia, after seeing the flyer, reached out stating she was considering donating.
I shared with her my situation, letting her know I am not trying to apply any pressure and gave her ample time to think about it.
Within a month she decided this is what she wanted to do and contacted my transplant team to officially start the process.
Fast forward to April of 2021 when we had the chance to meet person before the scheduled surgery date, only to find out there was a need to postpone the surgery. Luckily we only had to wait 2 days.
She saved my life and I will forever be grateful. As mentioned earlier, she is now a member of my family.
